\r\n\tSince 1642\r\n\t<\/h2>\r\n\t

Our ancestors have been working here in this unique square in Heiligenblut, right next to the famous Church of St. Vincent, since 1642 as innkeepers, traders, hemmers and mountain guides. At that time, tourism was still far away and life up here was mainly about agriculture and, of course, the challenging Tauern crossing, where goods were transported on horseback from Venice to Salzburg and vice versa. Here in Heiligenblut – at the Glocknerwirt – you could fortify yourself for the strenuous tour and experience sociable hours.<\/p>\r\n\t

Our parent company, the Glocknerwirt, still exists in its prominent position today. It is an important part of the Grossglockner National Park Lodge and we have deliberately left it in its original form. As a guest, you experience the flair of the golden 1960s, when the Glocknerwirt was converted from an inn into what was then a modern hotel.<\/p>\r\n

The Gro\u00dfglockner High Alpine Road was opened in 1935, and tourism also moved into the mountaineering and Glockner village of Heiligenblut. Back then, the Glocknerwirt was the first address for travelers from all over the world. In the 1970s the Hotel Glocknerhof was added and in 2017 the Hotel Glocknerhof became the National Park Lodge Gro\u00dfglockner.<\/p>\r\n

The Glocknerwirt has survived all new buildings and conversions and continues to decorate the center of Heiligenblut. We are very proud of our Glocknerwirt and run it with passion. He is a witness to a bygone era in which hectic rush and pollution were still foreign words. We deliberately decided to take a different, slower path. The tourism madness like in our neighboring countries South Tyrol, Salzburg and Tyrol is not an alternative for us. The Glocknerwirt defies all these resource-wasting trends and remains as it is. Even more, he is a role model and synonym for everything we do in the National Park Lodge. We run the exclusive 4 star hotel with care and a refreshing slowness and are aware of our responsibility that spans generations.<\/p>\r\n
