The idyllic Gipperalpe with its weather-tanned alpine huts and small chapel is forgotten in winter.

Touring skiers rarely leave their tracks here in the untracked powder snow. One of the reasons why the wild animals of the national park feel so comfortable here in winter! The ideal destination of our National Park wildlife safari!

Into The Wild

Your adventure in the snow

The observation of chamois and deer in the wintry national park is an extraordinary experience of nature, which, however, requires a great deal of care. Because the last thing we want is an unnecessary disturbance of the game, which needs all energy reserves to get through the cold season.

It is therefore a matter of honor that Lodge boss Hannes Pichler leads this tour himself. Hannes' love of nature was inherited from his ancestors: the grandfather was the main initiator for the reinstatement of the ibex, while his father is now the chairman of the ibex community, which, together with the national park management, protect and maintain the ibex on the Grossglockner.

First, take the National Park Lodge Shuttle over the serpentines of the "Old Glocknerstrasse" up to the Gipperalm, where the snowshoe tour begins. Through the snow-covered forest it goes higher, to the best observation points, where the chance to observe the wild animals of the national park is greatest. The tour has no fixed route in the midst of the winter splendor: this depends on the snow conditions and the observation options. However, the final stop in the Almgasthof “Hohe Wand” is fixed, where you can warm up and exchange what you have just experienced.
